Socrates Model Rocket
- Available in limited quantities upon request
The Socrates model rocket kit is a great first model for elementary school age kids, as it assembles without tools and with just wood glue or school glue. Through-the-wall balsa fins glue on straight and strong. It flies well on 1/2A through C 18mm motors, and its streamer recovery limits drift for easier recovery on small fields. An adult can assemble the kit in about 15 minutes, though a classroom of kids may take an hour. This kit is currently in product testing in Tucson classrooms; we're just refining some fit and finish aspects of the design. Recent changes include the addition of a 3D printed motor retainer and centering ring system that works nicely. We're working on new print and video instructions, which will be available shortly.
