Launch Controllers

An electrical launch controller is essential for launching model rockets in a safe and controlled manner. Model Rocketry Safety Code compliant launch controllers include a removable safety key that prevents launch when the key is removed, and a launch switch that returns to the closed position when released. A launch controller will also provide sufficient distance to the launch pad for the size of the motor: 15 feet for D motors or smaller, and 30 feet for E - G motors. High power motors have additional requirements outlined in the High Power Rocket Safety Code.
