Description

At 1/14 scale, this model of the US Army's Honest John surface to surface tactical missile can look great on a shelf or in the air.  Its 24mm motor mount makes this a high performing kit on Estes D and E motors, reaching altitudes of up to 1400 ft. This is a moderate difficulty build, with through-the-wall balsa fins that require multi-layer construction, sanding to shape. You'll need to cut the fin slot in the airrame tube as well. And of course, as with any scale model, the amount of time you put into the  One great feature about this kit is that it features a 24mm motor retainer for easy motor changes and  compatibility with Estes and Aerotech 24mm motors. With an 18 mm - 24mm motor adapter, you can also fly this kit with Quest 18m C12 and D16 motors.  With sturdy build techniques (think epoxy, not white glue), this little kit can exceed 2000 ft on Aerotech 24mm E motors. For those higher performing motors, however, make sure your motor mount supports the length of the motor, and your fins will need to be well constructed to support the higher flight speeds. Avoid F motors with this kit, as the 700+ mph max speed is likely to put the model at risk. It's just not shaped to handle those speeds.
